5 EFFECTIVE WAYS TO REMARKET YOUR BOOK YEARS AFTER SELF-PUBLISHING

How long do you think you should promote your book? Maybe one month, two months or up to a year after the launch? You can promote your book as long as it’s available for purchase and it’s relevant, just like other products are promoted years after they are released. Will people still be interested? Yes they will! Truth is, readers are more interested in the content than when it was published. All they want is a good book. So if you have a good book, here’s not one but five effective ways you can use to reach new readers.

1. Do Podcast Interviews

Take advantage of the ever-increasing interest in podcasts by becoming a guest on one. The amazing thing about podcasts is that there are shows on almost every topic and interest out there. There are very high chances that you will find a show that is in line with your book’s content and that the host is probably also looking for you. A recent survey from Acast showed that out of 2,000 monthly podcast listeners, 70 percent enjoy listening to guest interviews so this is a niche that hosts are looking to fill. Podcast hosts typically don’t need you to be the ‘hottest’ topic in town; they just need you to be a fit to their audience and share something that their audience is looking for.

2. Harness the Power of Social Media

Whether you've been active on social platforms or not, it's never too late to start. Leverage proper hashtags, collaborate with influencers, and run targeted ads to expand your reach. Create dedicated profiles on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even TikTok, and engage with potential readers by sharing content that is of interest to your followers. Share snippets, behind-the-scenes stories, character insights, and other engaging material to pique curiosity and remind people that your book is waiting to be read and loved.

3. Explore Alternative Formats

Give your book a fresh appeal by converting it into an audiobook and making it available on platforms such as Audible. There are a lot of people who struggle with reading and don’t have the time or desire to sit and read a book but still want to consume the content. By repurposing your book, you can reach these people who prefer different mediums. You could also transform your book into a podcast or a series of YouTube videos.

4. Offer Limited-Time Promotions

Everybody loves a good deal, so why not use that to your advantage? Consider running limited-time promotions for your book. Temporary price reductions or bundle offers, reignite interest in your work. Promote these deals through your website, social media platforms, and book-centric forums. Engage with your audience and encourage them to spread the word. These promotions not only attract new readers but also incentivize those who may have heard about your book but never got around to buying it.

5. Do A Second Launch

Yes, you can relaunch your book. A new or updated edition of your book can be the bridge that gets you an even wider readership. The amazing thing is that as self-published author, you don’t need to seek approval from anyone. You call the shots! (More on this to come on a future blog)
